A River Runs Through It.
As soon as I walked in, Python Lady said, “I thought you said I wasn’t going to see you today.” I asked why I had said that. “Because you were going to see the A-Team,” Python Lady said.
I am planning on visiting the A-Team later. I do not need to spend all day loitering in a crummy bar. I am planning on visiting the A-Team later, when I finally find the air conditioning too cold at Katie’s.
I told Mrs. King my plans when she asked me, as I was headed out the door. That was half an hour ago. Mrs. King always knows where to find me. An emergency may arise at any minute.
A man on a Vespa can always be Johnny-on-the-spot in the time it takes for a hat to drop.
Mrs. King already knows what my plans are for tomorrow. I have important business tomorrow. I have important business today. Every day is a variation on a theme.
As for today, Python Lady told me that I told her that I am cooking up a scheme over at Liuzza’s-by-the-Track and that is why I have to see the A-Team. Python Lady is correct. That is what I told her.
Seven days spent killing time with Python Lady will make one weak. This is why I limit myself. If you are killing time with Python Lady, five days are more than enough to make one week.
Python Lady said that I told her yesterday that the subject of my A-Team dream scheme was none of her business and I chose to not share that information with her. I made a point to say it point blank. Again, Python Lady is correct. Python Lady has a phonographic memory.
I still have not shared what my business with the A-Team is with Python Lady. She is busy doing a crossword puzzle. Happiness loves company. Everyone is happier when they stick to their knitting.
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
Now, behind the paywall, I will talk about something less gnostic.
Vincent just texted me. He is knocking boots with California Girl as we speak. The reason he interrupted my train of thought was to enquire about the A-Team. Minor mischief will surely soon ensue. I like days like today.
It is days like today that make me appreciate living in New Orleans.
