Caribbean Alleys.
Picking up where I left off a few days ago when I got distracted and broke character, it seems we are discussing the Caribbean Alleys in Gert Town. I didn’t go all the way back to the beginning to find out. I wrote this stuff. I know what I’m talking about. Reader surveys over the years show that most of my readers understand 70% of what I am talking about. It is a different 70% for different people. It is also sometimes more. Your mileage may vary. I haven’t polled anyone recently.
If you know me well and you follow me around, everything makes 100% sense in the most delightful way. Everything is connected like K&B purple beads on a wire.
You do know you can visit every single place I talk about, don’t you? I wouldn’t encourage you to go to Club She-She’s, for instance, but it’s there. They have an excellent lunch buffet. It’s also located in New Orleans East, which is out of the way.
So, to conclude with those two Caribbean alleys in Gert Town:
The best part of Bloomingdale Court is the length between Erato and Clio Streets. Everything is better between Erato and Clio. Most of the men who live there work at the cement plant on the corner of Broadway and Earhart. Like all of Gert Town, this is a tightly knit community. All the neighbors know each other. All the children play together. Eggs are freely shared. The chickens roost under the houses. The roosters keep the racoons and opossums at bay. There isn't a rat problem.
Of the two Caribbean Alleys, Bloomingdale Court is the most overgrown. The good part is more than half jungle. There is an open clearing where the neighbors gather for crawfish and impromptu band performances. Where the 3rd Ward at?
