Hibachi Culture (Little Metairie, Part VI).
There are four hibachi restaurants in New Orleans, a city of 380,000 people. One is Miyako, on St. Charles Avenue. Another is Yummy Sushi, Ramen, & Hibachi, tucked away in Gentilly, at the corner of Hamburg and Aviators Streets. The third is Midori Sushi & Hibachi Express, in Carrollton. It is popular with students from Tulane and Loyola Universities, just down the street.
The fourth hibachi restaurant is what concerns us today. It is Ikura in Little Metairie. Paid subscribers know that I am extensively describing this neighborhood. Today, we dive deep into hibachi culture. Ikura is a perfect example of New Orleans seen through a Japanese lens.
In the meantime, behind the paywall is really getting spicy as we get deep in the bowels of Ikura.
