Hollygrove. You just mispronounced it. I am not going to tell you how it is said. You either have to be born there or you earn that knowledge. Giving it away for free would debase its value.

Little Wayne is from Hollygrove.

The sacred butts up to the profane along South Carrollton Avenue.

I don’t spend a lot of time in Hollygrove. When I type it, I spell it like it’s pronounced. Then, I have to go back and correct the spelling every time I write Hollygrove. I am doing it now. Say it right, would you?

I have been in Hollygrove recently for research purposes. As I may have mentioned occasionally in this forum, I am writing an extended monograph about Gert Town. Hollygrove is Gert Town-adjacent. There is not much measurable osmosis across Carrollton Avenue, but I have only been on the case a little over a month. I am still discovering things about Gert Town.

Gert Town is not as monotonous as you might think. There are four distinct subdivisions. I am mapping them out. Nobody pays me to do this. It is volunteer effort, part of a cabal of antiquarians who document the city around them for future generations.

The world needs more children.

I could use some more paid subscribers. I rely on a staff of volunteers informants and runners to keep this operation moving forward but it would be nice to purchase some field equipment and maybe hire somebody, at least part-time. I spend a lot of time answering the phone. Someone else can do that.

Think about it.

Anyhow, to the point, I have been in Hollygrove because Johnson Park and Lincoln Park were located there. They still are, under different names, but they are still parks. They are very different now. Buddy Bolden is dead.

I often wonder who went to see the movie, “Bolden.” I never bring it up in conversation. It’s a fairly recent movie. I have never seen it.

I did see a clip on YouTube. Having seen YouTube, I have seen all I need to see. I may never need to go to Hollygrove again. —Not really. Reality is always better than fantasy.

How would I know?

The sheriff shot a campaign commercial in front of the Vespa yesterday afternoon. I was sitting on my front porch waiting for the Apple Store to call me. My computer has been in the shop, which is why I haven’t been around.

Everything happens for a reason.

Below the paywall is a discussion of Flint-Goodrich Hospital. This came about because Xavier University has started a program to train doctors. Dillard University was first. Whenever something is on one side of Canal Street, its equivalent can always be found on the other side.
