Janice’s son is telling the story about the time he was lying under a live oak at midnight. It is a real thriller.

"While I was lying on the ground, a opossum tottered over.  It was a filthy beast, wandering slowly in my direction, flat-footed.  The opossum probably weighed twenty-five pounds.

"I jumped and startled the opossum.  It played dead.  I left it alone, even though I could have picked it up if I wanted to.  Once they play dead, it takes them a while to wake up."

Janice interjects, "Cajuns eat opossum.  Creoles eat turtle.  Are you sure you don't want a beer, baby?"
