I’ve been busy in the annual swirl that is Carnival. I have also been a bit laid up after a Vespa accident. None of this is anything serious. You can tell this because I am sitting here contentedly singing to myself. I am singing the theme to Cannonball Run.
Instead of “Cannonball,” just say, “Mardi Gras.” It all makes perfect sense.
What do you say when you write with no words?
Mardi Gras Mardi Gras Mardi Gras It's not what you do It's how you do it. Be anything you want to be It's not what you got It's how you use it You be you And I'll be me It's just a matter of style You can fake it Mile after mile Feeling free What do you do when you’ve done it all? Mardi Gras.
Ray Stevens wrote the theme song to Cannonball Run. Cannonball Runs II and III, too. I am not going to look it up but I think his other top ten hit was “The Streak.”
Today is Lundi Gras. Tomorrow is the most magical day of the year. Today is Carnival. Tomorrow is Mardi Gras. Your agents in the field wish you a happy Mardi Gras. I will be swept away tomorrow, as I have been much of this week.
May we all suffer the benefits of a hard and painful upcoming Lent. I know I am looking forward to it. So are all my chums. Penitence is overdue.
More good stuff to follow once Mardi Gras is over. I have been doing some investigative reporting on the Blue Plate Building. It was built in 1941. The views from the roof are amazing.
Full report on the Skull and Bones Gang tomorrow.
On that note, get your good selves outside, mingle, make some good memories. Those are suggestions from your agents in the field.
Sorry to hear about the accident! I need to catch up. Happy Mardi Gras to you and Mrs. King. I hear is going to be blustery. See you later in the month.
