Maple Street.
Mrs. King and I were on Maple Street today out for a lunch date. Mrs. King is the best company of all. Maple Street in New Orleans (I don’t know about the Maple Street where you live) is a commercial street in Carrolton, abutting Tulane University.
From downtown to uptown, there are Loyola University, Tulane University, and Maple Street, all cheek-by-jowl. There are a lot of college students in Carrollton. This is yet another reason why I prefer living in Mid-City.
There is a nice old bar on Maple Street called Bruno’s. They have a shuffleboard table. If you go to Bruno’s during the day, the clientele is mostly a bunch of men who show up regularly to nurse schooners of beer and kibbutz.
I like Bruno’s during the day. I would. I am a creature of the afternoon. Stay out to late and people get crazier than they are during the day. I have been to Bruno’s at night. I prefer afternoons. At night, Bruno’s is full of college students.
Now, I will tell you about where Mrs. King and I had lunch. It was delicious. Then I will tell you about something I discovered that I had never guessed before.
But, first, the paywall:
