The Honey Island Swamp Monster is a skunk ape. Of the photographed sightings after 1963, there are two grainy photographs and Super 8 film. Experts, including the esteemed cryptozoologist, Dr. Ludwich Schartz. The general consenses, based on what could be seen from all outward appearances, the monster was a skunk ape.
No one has seen a skunk ape up close. They are reclusive and shy, which makes Honey Island the perfect home. Skunk apes haunt the deep swamps of the Southern states, living their feral lives off the grid. Seen from afar, eye witnesses report that skunk apes look like people walking upright in a gorilla suit. Once the skunk ape knows it has been spotted, it dashes away into the underbrush.
A skunk ape's cry is that of a hyena. The sound is bone-chilling at night. There are recordings.
