M.S. Rau, Fine Art, Antiques, Jewels.
I have not been to M.S. Rau in a long while. I have been long overdue for a visit. I have an active interest in fine art, a middling interest in antiques, and no interest in jewels. That said, a trip to M.S. Rau is an an exploration into a world few people I know ever visit.
Ed probably shops at M.S. Rau.
To say that M.S. Rau is an antique store is to understate the case. M.S. Rau is a museum in which everything is for sale. I have little interest in buying anything there, I would prefer to buy a house, but I do like to visit M.S. Rau and I do like to talk with the curators who double as salespeople.
I am composing this report at Cajun Mike’s.
Cajun Mike’s is on Barrone Street. The reason I am here is because Cajun Mike’s is three doors down from Immaculate Conception Church, also on Barrone Street, across from the rear entrance of the Roosevelt Hotel.
The lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel is lit for Carnival.
It is very busy at Cajun Mike’s. I just turned around to survey the room. The Miss Universe pageant was last weekend but some of the delegates must be making the most of their chance to visit New Orleans. They are still here.
Love is in the air.
I am not here to go to the Green Door, next to Cajun Mikes at 114 1/2 Barrone Street. The Green Door is open 24 hours a day. I can go anytime, should I choose. I do not think they take any holidays off, not even the lunar new year. I am washing my hair that night.
I am actually here to talk about M.S. Rau, the high-end antique store in New Orleans. Few people visit. Few can afford it. I cannot afford it, but, I like to visit for free. Let me tell you about M.S. Rau in New Orleans, as opposed to all the other M.S. Raus in the world.
There is only one M.S. Rau to talk about. Let me tell you…
