Celerity is a word that means swiftness of movement, rapidity of action, the opposite of how most of my days in Mid-City roll by. I assume the same is true of other neighborhoods within New Orleans. It is very rare to see anyone in a rush.
For instance, I am not in any rush today though I have to go to the scene of a carjacking. I do not have enough details to report on it at the moment, which is why I have to get moving, but, what’s the rush? I am talking to Tim and Danielle from Texas.
They ate the crawfish beignet. This place sells a lot of crawfish beignets. Guy Fieri recommends them.
Tim and Danielle just left. Now that I can see behind them, I see that an elderly gentleman is eating a crawfish beignet. It looks really tasty.
Benjamin Moore, the paint company, is releasing a line of colors found in the French Quarter. I assume it is called the French Quarter Collection. Helm Paint, a local paint store is also involved. I assume they sell Benjamin Moore paints.
Benjamin Moore has the French Quarter palette covered. SWP cover the earth. Sherman Williams Paints has the best logo in the business.
I just talked to someone who lives in Kenner. It may as well be in another country as far as I am concerned. Kenner is where the airport is. I have not been to the airport in years. I rarely leave New Orleans city limits.
The airport is called Louis Armstrong International Airport. Its airport code is MSY, which stands for Moisant Stock Yards. The reason for the mismatch is not lost in the mists of history but it is too complicated to explain right now. Everything in its place.
I have finished reading today’s Wall Street Journal. Some guy from somewhere else just asked me what it is like to have lunch in New Orleans every day. I replied that it involves a lot of sitting around, waiting for things to happen, making haste slowly.
Python Lady was listening in. “Except for the Wall Street Journal, take a look at what Mr. King has in front of him. These are the things that fill his days.”
I love Necco wafers. New England Confectionary Company. Necco. Now you know.
Can you imagine that my plan was to spend today talking about the Broad Theater? Now I have to go investigate this car jacking, which was not a car jacking at all but a drug deal gone deadly.
