New Orleans Birthday.
Drunken tourist sighting at 5:00AM. Things are hopping at Checkpoint Charlie’s. The gang missed me, even the rats.
Apparently it is a tourist’s birthday today. She is drunk. She is loud. She is obnoxious. She is not alone. It is a bachelorette party, the best kind. The whole gaggle of them sound like they are from New Jersey. She is having a New Orleans birthday. I do not think she is the bride.
I will say this, these ladies from New Jersey are very loud but they make up for it by being easy on the eyes. The birthday girl is rumpy. They are headed up to the mezzanine to play pool so they will be less of a bother than if they stayed sitting next to me. From the mezzanine, I can only see them from the waist down.
Have you ever had a birthday?
The bartender fetched a safety pin and pinned a dollar to the birthday girl. It is a New Orleans birthday tradition. Now, theoretically, people will pin dollar bills to her for the rest of her birthday. Peels of hilarity ensued when the ladies learned of this local custom. I like them in the mezzanine.
In other news, someone tried to pay with a counterfeit $20 bill. That is a story for after the paywall.
