New Orleans Miss Universe.
The Miss Universe pageant is being held in New Orleans this weekend. For a city of only 380,000 citizens, New Orleans punches above its weight class. New Orleans is a world-class city.
New Orleans is full of even more feminine pulchritude than usual this week. It is what is on the inside that counts. Every Miss Universe Delegate personifies what is best about the country she represents. Little things mean a lot.
So, once again, I am sitting at Liuzza’s-by-the-Track. You will never guess who just walked in. We have a Miss Universe New Orleans sighting, it is not even the first of many. It is many of many.
New Orleans is home to beautiful women, to be sure, but Miss Universe-style beautiful women, well, now that I come to think about it—yeah. New Orleans has its share of Miss Universe-beautiful beautiful women. I mostly know this because I am married to one.
I was sitting with my back to the door, as I usually do. I can trust everyone in Mid-City. When the door opened behind my back, I knew what had occurred in an instant. It was like the Teletubby sun baby had walked into the room. The presence of these two women make the dining room that bright and cheerful.
Fortuna, Imperatrix Mundi, gurgled a chortle at what was about to happen next.
