Old Gretna. Chapter 622.
The arrows in New Orleans are starting to point in one direction. They point to the Mississippi River.
The port is why New Orleans is here. Hospitality is what people do to survive. The days of the banana docks along the French Quarter are gone. The days of stevedores have been replaced by an age of shipping containers hoisted by robots.
I do not know anyone who works at the port. I know plenty of people who work in hospitality. The port exists for the rest of America. The hospitality industry exists to provide New Orleanians a living.
I met a lady from Mobile, AL today.
I do not know anyone who goes to Mobile, AL to have a good time. I have met plenty of people who come from Mobile to New Orleans to have a good time. New Orleans is the City That Care Forgot.
This lady has a house in Mobile that is like a house on St.Charles Avenue, except, instead of being made of wood, her house is made of brick. She has learned the lesson of the Three Little Pigs.
She and I talked about Old Gretna.
