Hmmm…. This club soda tastes like quinine. Someone must be hungover. You know young people—every one of them is always so tired. I am not going to bother to ask. I already know the answer.
Mrs. King and I went to the movies this morning, to a 10:00AM matinee. We went to the Prytania, which has been a movie theater on Prytania Street since 1918.
The first movie Mrs. King and I saw in New Orleans was at the Prytania. We had just moved here. It was Toy Story 3. I am getting misty-eyed remembering the plot.
The last movie Mrs. King and I saw in New Orleans was about three hours ago. It was at the Prytania. It was Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
Casablanca is playing the week after next. I should tell Ed. It is his favorite movie.
Ed probably talks during the movie, and I don’t mean between previews.
I will go if Ed is not. That way I can tell him how it ends.
A large popcorn costs $7.50. Is that too much? No. Keep the Prytania in business. I wish it was more convenient but the Broad is my neighborhood theater.
Do other cities even have neighborhood movie theaters anymore? I do not know. I did not see any in Birmingham, Alabama. I went to the art museum just about every day for ten days. Every day is a tiny adventure.
The reason I like Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is because my life is much like Pee Wee’s, if less frenetic and somewhat more somber. It is just as colorful. My fortune today indicates the similarities between my life and the plot of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
Another movie I like is Amelié, for similar reasons.
Another movie I like is Toy Story 3.
While my life is similar to Pee Wee Herman’s, and it is also similar to Paul Reubens’ life, in that we are both best identified with a character we portray, that is where the similarity ends.
Unlike Mr. Reubens, I have never been caught masturbating in public. There is a reason for that.
Now, I have to put the paywall up so I can tell you where to find dirty magazines in New Orleans. Mr. King’s big adventure. The place was full of midgets.
