Ramos Gin Fizz. Chapter 548.
I am sitting next to two people, I assume a married couple. They really wanted to see a cocktail menu when they arrived. These two are acting all sophisticated, the kind of high hat folk who extend their pinky fingers when they drink tea. They present themselves a four-fingered drinkers. They are really putting on airs. He is drinking a Miller Lite. She is drinking a Michelob Ultra. They are both drinking from the bottle.
They are country people, salt of the earth, unused to cosmopolitan, metropolitan ways. They are eating char-grilled oysters with Crystal hot sauce, the local favorite. It is the lady’s favorite, too. She asked for it. They are using their outside voices, the way people do when they are used to talking across a flooded rice paddy. They are from Crowley, Louisiana.
I did not realize Crystal hot sauce is sold in Crowley. I should not be surprised. Crystal hot sauce is big in Dubai.
The Mayor of New Orleans is in Dubai for a climate change conference. I wonder if her invitation is a coincidence.
The couple from Crowley are watching high school football on the television with the sound off. They requested the game. I glance up from time to time but I do not find it interesting. I do not have a dog in that fight.
They couple from Crowley knows one of the players on television. They get quite animated when he appears on the screen. I am not the kind of person come all the way to New Orleans to watch a high school football on a restaurant television, but, I am not on vacation.
The cable TV package at where I am located today (it is not Manchu Chicken) offers all sorts of public access channels from all over the country. God bless America.
It is sometimes hard to tell what is going on.
This lady keeps talking about Crystal hot sauce. I like Crystal as well as any chump but I wish she would give the subject a rest. Her husband, if he is her husband, he does not seem to mind.
The lady from Crowley asked the bartender about the ingredients in a Ramos Gin Fizz. I am not one to judge but I do not think someone who drinks Michelob Ultra by choice should be dabbling in the cocktail depths a Ramos Gin Fizz represents. This is not a drink for those unaccustomed to its, even if is it is frothy and a little sweet and it goes down easily.
Python Lady just shot me a look. Game on. The bluebird of low expectations just flew into the room.
And, with that, the next scene in today’s adventure is about to begin.
