The Blue Plate Building has aged well in its zip code, 70125. You should see the view from the roof. It's a straight shot between the E on the roof and 400 Poydras Street. If you don't think about Lee Harvey Oswald, the rooftop garden is a great place to kick back and relax after a long day at your day job. Unwind while you watch the sun go down and the skyline light up with 60,000 hotel room windows burning bright. See the lights twinkle? It can get pretty trippy up there.

19 million visitors come to New Orleans ever year. Very few visit this part of the city. Only cognoscenti know this place exists. It is for the smart set. It's nice to see you again.

Australians would tell you that the Blue Plate Building is at the convergence of songlines. It is where Thalia Street, Earhart Boulevard, South Norman C. Francis Parkway, Vendome Place, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard converge. MLK ends, unceremoniously, behind C&A Seafood. People park their trucks there. Tenants of the Blue Plate Artist Lofts park in the gated lot behind the Blue Plate Building. It is conveniently located across Earhart from C&A Seafood.

There are 72 Blue Plate artist lofts, so, mathematically speaking, at least 72 artists live there. You know how artists can be. The apartment manager says she has a dream job with all the perks. She says everyone is quiet and respectful. They get along. "It's a real community," she says.

There is, of course, more behind the paywall. Do a friend a favor, share this much with them. They won’t be afraid to bite off a bit more.
