There is No Such Thing as Too Much Chattanooga.
Chattanoogans are good people. I think that is what people who live in Chattanooga are called. I don’t think they are called Chattanooganauts. That is what I am. I am on an adventure.
I just checked. Chattanoogans are called Chattanoogans. Laurel told me. Ila confirmed.
It is fun to say Chattanooga, even if it is a lot of letters to type every time I want to say it.
I just met some ladies from Dalton, Georgia. They tell me Dalton is a 35-minute drive away. They come to Chattanooga, the big city, for fun but home is where the heart is.
I was on the border between Georgia and Tennessee today. I have spent enough time in Georgia getting here on Route 11. I stayed in Tennessee. I made an on-a-dime U-turn before I crossed the state line. It’s a good thing Georgia put up that sign as a warning.
That was almost too close for comfort.
I was in Chattanooga’s St. Elmo neighborhood. Boy, that was a nice part of town. It is right at the base of Lookout Mountain.
Did you know that Dalton, Georgia is the “Carpet Capital of the World?”
I take the back roads. I linger. It is always nice to talk with people and learn about them. The world is a panopticon.
Nowadays, Dalton manufactures mostly hardwood and vinyl flooring. Most of the carpet manufacturing has moved to China. Carpet now makes up about 30% of the floor covering industry in Dalton. One of the ladies told me that. I did not read it on Wikipedia. I am sharing the inside scoop.
My idea of research is to hang out long enough to catch a glimpse of what is going on. Then, it is on to the next thing.
Before there was Soylent Green, there was America. I have learned a lot on this trip.
Only French people say that their time spent in America is too long. They miss France. For everyone else, their time in America is too short.
America contains a lot to digest. We live in a big country. It is nice to be out and about in the world. Even in Chattanooga, I am a New Orleans goodwill ambassador. It is my avocation.
The ladies from Dalton, Georgia and I took photos of each other. We had never met anyone like each other. What fun!
Now I will tell about why I was in St. Elmo. My mission here is to be a Chattanooganaut not a ne’er-do-well.
