For awhile, the Melba’s on Elysian Fields Avenue, the original, was the fastest growing business in Louisiana. I remember when Melba’s first opened. I have never been to Melba’s, but I remember when it opened. Who could forget?
I took photographs of the Melba’s on Elysian Fields Avenue soon after it opened. Even a simpleton could see Melba’s was answering a communal need. The owners are geniuses. Find a market and serve it.
I know that is what I do.
I have no interest in finding the old photos I took of the first Melba’s. I am too enraptured by the second Melba’s, which is on Tulane Avenue.
The new Melba’s sure looks spiffy.
Mrs. King, bless her heart, rarely calls me unless she has something important to tell me.
Mrs. King called me today to ask if I had been on Tulane Avenue recently. Today is Saturday, so, I thought back to last Saturday, and, no, I have not been on Tulane Avenue recently. Mrs. King apparently visits Tulane Avenue less than I do. I have no idea what she was doing there today.
It is Saturday. The courthouse is closed. I should have snapped a photo of that. It is very imposing. Inscribed over the columns is the following: “OURS IS A GOVERNMENT OF LAWS, NOT MEN.” This is Louisiana.
Okay, I am not going to talk about the courthouse. That is a topic for another day.
Mrs. King was correct in calling with an update about what is happening on Tulane Avenue, even if I was already aware of it. She spurred me to pop into this new Melba’s.
I am going to draw the paywall here and talk about my escapade at Melba’s.
Today is Saturday. That means it is $8.00 for 44oz. frozen daiquiris at Melba’s today.
