Every day is a variation on a theme.
I am on tenterhooks at the Rib Room. Now I know why I refrain from visiting this side of the French Quarter. There are too many people, especially on a Friday afternoon. This was not my idea.
I am dressed in full regalia. If I am going to be keeping company with three women today, I should wear a tie. Give people what they pay for. I am wearing a necktie.
I should be wearing a necktie. The Rib Room is where funeral directors meet for lunch. They do not meet just to enjoy each other’s company. They meet at the Rib Room to keep an eye on the other clientele. The majority of the Rib Room’s customers have one foot on a banana peel.
The New Orleans Wax Museum has relocated to Houmas House and Gardens. You do not need to drive all the way out to Darrow, Louisiana to marvel at wax works. You can still see them in New Orleans. The Rib Room is full of them.
I will tell you more in a moment. As always in New Orleans, the best is yet to come…
