The best days start over good conversation. They end that way, too. There are good conversations in the middle, every day. I know. I get to do it every day. I live in New Orleans. I sleep the sleep of the contented. Don’t you?

Mrs. King and I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Nelson a/k/a Queen Trini Nelson. She is from Trinidad. She is the chef and the owner. Her eponymous restaurant, on the corner of South Cortez and d’Hemecourt Streets, was waiting for her. So many things happen by dint of serendipity here.

Island soul food.

This address has been idle for a long time. I always thought it had potential. I rarely visit this part of Mid-City so I hadn’t realized that Queen Trini had taken it over. She has been here for three months. There was a photo of her fish sandwich in yesterday’s Times-Picayune. The photo was in an article about places to get fish during Lent.

Fridays during Lent are the slowest days of the year in a barbecue joint.
